Is a Spanish lawyer with good English the same as an English solicitor working in Spain?
No. Only lawyers registered at a Spanish bar association can practice Spanish law. An "English solicitor" advising on a Spanish purchase must still instruct a Spanish lawyer — you end up paying two firms. A Spanish lawyer fluent in English costs the same and cuts the middleman.
How do I verify the lawyer is properly qualified?
Ask for their bar number and the province of registration. In Manilva that will typically be the Colegio de Abogados de Málaga (Málaga Bar). You can verify the number online through the bar association's public register. If they will not give you a number, walk away.
